Celebrate the holiday season amidst the splendour of Carlton House Terrace, an esteemed Grade I listed Georgian Townhouse that serves as the prestigious residence of The British Academy, nestled in the heart of Westminster.

This iconic Central London venue offers exclusive access to 10 distinct rooms, each exuding its own unique ambiance and allure.

The Reading Room boasts some of the most captivating views of The Mall and St James’s Park, with its expansive windows flooding the space with natural light.

Originally the dining room of four-time Prime Minister William Gladstone, this room holds historical significance, having occasionally hosted cabinet meetings during his tenure. Adorning the walls are prints from Tom Phillips’s illustrated translation of Dante’s Inferno, adding an artistic touch to the atmosphere.

Featuring lofty ceilings adorned with soaring arches and an inviting alcove area, the room seamlessly integrates modern technology, including a built-in screen and PA system, to accommodate various events. Additional in-house equipment can be readily incorporated to facilitate a smooth hybrid event experience, making it an ideal venue for corporate festive gatherings.

The Reading Room also adjoins The Library, offering versatility for breakout sessions, catering services, exhibitions, or networking opportunities.
